Why Florian Guillaume recommends Rotor Deconstruction
“They prove that salvaging a building's materials can pay for itself. That is what convinces builders.”
Why Paul Emilieu Marchesseau recommends Rotor Deconstruction
“Rotor was born in Brussels out of a collaboration begun in 2005 by Maarten Gielen, Tristan Boniver and Lionel Devlieger, who founded the non-profit association.”
Founded in Brussels in 2005, Rotor is a collective of architects and researchers who question how our material environment is organised. Before building, they investigate: material flows, salvage channels, the resellers that have vanished from city centres. In 2016 came Rotor Deconstruction, a cooperative owned by its employees, which dismantles, processes and resells elements from large demolition sites. The association designs and researches, the cooperative salvages and sells: the two remain
