## About Ralph Nader

American consumer-rights lawyer and political activist born in 1934. His 1965 book Unsafe at Any Speed exposed the safety failures of the US auto industry, including the Chevrolet Corvair, and led directly to the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966. Over six decades, the constellation of organisations he founded (Public Citizen, the Center for Auto Safety, PIRGs) helped shape the Freedom of Information Act, the Clean Air and Water Acts, OSHA and the EPA. Still publishing, organising and running citizen-advocacy projects at over ninety.
