## About Milo Rau

Swiss director and essayist who makes theatre out of real trials, real massacres and real testimony. He founded the International Institute of Political Murder, which staged The Congo Tribunal, a mock court on the mining wars in eastern Congo performed with witnesses, victims and officials. As artistic director of NTGent from 2018 to 2023 he published the Ghent Manifesto, a set of binding rules for the company, including that scripts may not simply be reproduced and that non-professional performers must appear on stage. Since 2024 he directs the Wiener Festwochen, reframing the festival as a Free Republic with its own assembly and tribunals.
